The Beauty of the Bloom
this is only the 2nd time in 3 years
that this Orchid is in Bud.....
earlier this winter, I almost tossed out this Orchid
There did not seem to be any roots what so ever on it
not like the Orchid to the left of it with Tons of air roots.....
but I am so Happy I left Her Be~
both of these Orchids are planted in a Flower Pot that was
My Great Grand Mothers.....
She brought this with Her from Norway when they came over
in 1903.....
A Family Treasure to Me

I will certainly post more pics, When the Bloom Opens~
Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteEvery year for Valentines Day my hub buys me a gorgous orchid. Every year I nurse the darn thing & every year I give up & throw the poor dead weed out. What is the secret? And those pots are wonderful..Norway huh? Lisa
What a sweet story. So glad you left her alone! Her new life is just budding. Happy Valentine's Day.

Orchids are strange...they look so delicate but in reality are so strong! I have one that I almost ignore (I'm a very bad gardener and kill everything!) and every 2 or 3 years she surprises me with a flower. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt has been such a long time sinds I got a flower on thes ones!
ReplyDeleteI give up!!
This post reminds me to be patient! You must listen to the song "Oleander" by Sarah Harmer...it is a love song about her plant and just the same as you, she almost gives up on it. Lovely photos...A simple, pretty heirloom too.
