Yes, I would have to say that having roots somewhere does have a definite upside and though it took me until quite late in life to experience that part of life I have enjoyed the fruits of a more semi-nomadic lifestyle too and get to know a fixed Community better and feel a part of it... and when someone would ask where I was "from" I didn't have to ask "Which year or month?" *wink*
