Afghans & Alzheimer Awareness

Did you know that I am an adult
Care giver for a sweet lady with
Alzheimers...   Did you know, her name is Angie...  She is 80 years young...   it makes me happy to know she has No idea she even
has Alzheimers...

She loves to Crochet...   Morning, noon & night,  you'll find Angie sitting in the same spot of her well worn sofa,  crochet hook & yarn in hand...  Her color combo may be a bit off,  but who doesn't smile when they see a Rainbow...

Crocheting act as therapy for Angie,
it is keeping her hands nibble & is stimulating her brain,
both great things for Alzheimer patients

I have just ordered MOO cards that can be attached to each Afghan
that I'm selling in My Etsy Shop ~ ZanyMayd
[first 2 photos]
proceeds will help with her care, her supply of yarn
& 10% will be donated to The Alzheimer's Association
My Mom's name was June,  she passed away
10 years ago from Dementia,  so this
is a cause that is very Dear to My heart
I miss her every day

Learn the early warning signs,  volunteer,  donate....

There's always something you can do

Please consider purchasing an
Angie's Afghan,
it will not only warm your body,
it will warm your heart too.....

  1. What a beautiful, caring and informative post! Please know how much I appreciate it. My Mom died back in August of 2006 two days after my first grandbaby was born. She had dementia and other health issues. On the following Valentine's Day in 2007, I lost my Dad to Alzeheimers. I just think he missed my Mom too much to live without her.

Your post hit close to home, and again, "thank you" for reminding people to "think" about these things and how they can reach out and help! I think I've probably mentioned before that my Mom was born and raised in Texas. She SO loved her home state and her beloved bluebonnets!!

    Take care,
    Sue

  4. I lost my mom to diabetes and heart disease, but I was a young nurse for seniors (many with Alzheimers) 23 plus years ago.) I know how comforting a familiar hobby like crocheting can be. Good for you for encouraging Angie. Wishing you a great week ahead.
